St. Philip Street Residence

Working closely with the owner who was also the General Contractor, we were able to source exceptionally unique and budget-friendly materials, such as the stained Poplar wood bathroom counter tops and the Alaskan Cedar hardwood floors. In the bathroom, the walk-in shower is surrounded by strategically placed windows that provide a direct view of the tropical foliage in the backyard, while still providing privacy.

We thoughtfully designed a contrasting 800 SF modern space that housed a new master bedroom, bathroom, and siting area. Crisp in its design yet seamlessly blended with the lush, tropical backyard, the new addition juxtaposes the existing creole aesthetic with the modern design.
Soaring 14-foot angled ceilings throughout the space allow for large transom windows above the doors in the hallway to welcome as much natural light as possible. The transition corridor space that connects the kitchen to the new addition is designed as an intimate seating area and reading nook, lined with a gallery wall of the client’s extensive art collection. The back porch matches the width of the addition, allowing for a small area for entertaining.
