The owners of this 2-story home in Old Metairie engaged NANO to redesign the front facade, backyard patio and reconfigure the first floor plan inclusive of the kitchen, 1/2 bath, master bathroom, living area, hallway and dining room.

The existing kitchen was boxed in by walls and not open to the adjacent living space and breakfast area. It had a breakfast counter that was too small and framed by walls, adding to the cramped feeling. NANO opened up the floor plan to have clear lines of sight all the way around the living space, breakfast area and through the windows and French doors to the outdoor patio.

With such wide expanses of countertop and island space in the kitchen, Calacatta Borghini marble was selected for its natural, sophisticated veining that complements the clean lines and understated elegance of the Thermador appliances. The marble behind the cooktop was bookmatched to add visual interest. The expansive 14’-6” island was also bookmatched to continue the refined feel throughout the space. As a stand-alone island, the marble was double thickness in order to support itself.

Geometric, dark bronze, light fixtures bring the color of the fireplace in the living area into the kitchen and seamlessly blend with the veining in the marble.
