Through spatial manipulation via sectioning and carving, NANO reimagined the Bancroft Residence, creating both a clever response to Post-Katrina living in New Orleans and a thoughtful environmental renovation through the elimination of wasted space. Originally 9,000 square feet, the home was reduced to 6,000 square feet by rezoning the space while raising the most heavily used areas of the house. This allowed for optimal viewing of Bayou St. John, along which the house is situated, and a reduction in energy costs through a consolidation of space.
