NANO was the architect for the interior renovation and reimagination of Athletique, a 1,500 SF high-end women’s athletic retail store and lifestyle brand. The client wanted the interior character and personality to emulate an “active” lifestyle allowing the space to transform and adapt with each new season and size of the designers’ collections.
The floor, on average, was slated to change retail layouts six times a year. Because of this constant fluctuation, flexibility became the central design focus for both NANO and the client. NANO employed a series of moveable metal screens that further supported the adaptability required to divide the space into discrete, but permeable zones. In addition to a variety of configurations, the perforated metal screens support merchandise displays while still permitting visual access through the space. The support shelving for each metal screen was fabricated by NANO and inspired by various sun salutations of yoga.
